G iuliano (lat. Iulianus ) of Eclano . - Bishop (b. about 380 - 455 m. ) of his hometown (od. Mirabella Eclano), son of Remembering Bishop, a friend of s. Pauline Nola and s. Augustine. With the latter, however, G. - follower of Pelagius and fled after the conviction ( Tractor of Pope Zosimus, 418) in the East, a guest of Theodore Mopsu Hestia, then again in the West without being able to return to his city - claimed a long controversy. S. Augustine has preserved precisely in Contra Iulianum Pelagianum part of 8 For Florum books, other works (the books 4 For Turbantium a De bono constantiae and biblical commentaries) we have only fragments of news or . But modern criticism has returned to G. a commentary on the minor prophets, a book Expositio of Job and the Latin translation of the commentary of Theodore of Mopsuestia the Psalms, we also have some of his letters to Pope Zosimus and his followers. G. Read is a writer and effectively adhere to the principles of the Antiochene school of exegesis, he used the Vulgate of St. Jerome and Pelagian doctrines defended with fierce force.

Volume III (1992) 784-788 columns Author : Heiko Wulfert
Iuliano G, Bishop of Aeclanum (ca. 385 - Ca 450).
sources of life and work of Julian Aeclanum are very complicated.
His works are to be charged only quotations from the writings of his opponents, the presentation of his life in the Gennadius Aryan myth is partly deformed (for details see below). So even his exact birth date is unknown.
was the end of the fourth century. Born son of the south, from century Italian bishop and his wife Juliana Memorius and married to Titia 403, a subsidiary of the bishop of Benevento family Emilio.
Paulinus of Nola wrote a song in praise of Julia and Titia (Carm. 25). Giuliano's father has provided extensive training in rhetoric. Augustine asked to contribute to the formation of Julian. These, then, sent him a copy of a portion of his treatise on music and asked for a visit. for the meeting with Augustine is by J. However, the man who came already ordained deacon only met a young friend Onorato Augustine in Carthage.
early as 416/17 Giuliano Aeclanum was consecrated bishop of the diocese in the south-west of Benevento. Along with a group of 18 Italian and Sicilian bishops, declined to the 418 firmaren el tractor Epistle of Pope Zosimus. Pelagianism was condemned. The whole group was deposed and exiled.
Comes with a request to Valerie of Ravenna, the Holy See and of Rufus Thessaloniki, tried to reach the convening of a general council, which should put it back in their offices. Their efforts were successful.
His clash with his former patron, Augustine, which led to his appointment to J. Valerie (418) with his treatise "Ad Turbantium" (419) and his writing to Florum "brought no change for the party Pelagian Julian was with some other 421.
's admission to Bishop Theodore of Mopsuestia, which was already known as a critic of opponents of Pelagius. In his biblical exegesis where Theodore J. Antioch and many other things that can be read by a few fragments of his exegetical works. After Theodore especially the new Patriarch of Constantinople Nestorius to Pope Celestine J.. The pope, however, was already convinced by Marius Mercator of error of the Pelagians and even reached their expulsion from Constantinople.
The condemnation of Pelagianism at the Council of Ephesus ( pushed 431) each further attempt at mediation prior to the efforts of Pope Sixtus IIIdecretrano failure.
from available sources (Fulgenzio: PL 48.296 ss) can be derived from the presumption that confirm that Julian has spent some time by the host semi-Pelagians in southern Gaul, while the Faust Reji in Lérins visited first as a teacher in front of Sicily 455 Giulinao died.
The writings are mostly data from assessments of many other authors such as Augustine, Marius Mercator and Bede remained unknown. It thinks that his work in dealing with Augustine as his first writings were taken into consideration later. They include letter Valerio, the treatise "Ad" Turbantium a letter to Pope Zosimus, who probably followed by second, by Marius Mercator as a "fidei name petition, and the inscription" Ad "Florum. Of some importance also exegetical works. They include a Latin translation of Theodore of Mopsuestia "Expositio in Psalmos," Comments on the job and the prophets Hosea, Joel, Amos, and some quotes from the writings of Bede said "In Canticum" and "De bono Constantia."
Among the source material is difficult to see Yves-Marie Duval, Julian Aeclanensis Restitutus. La première édition - incomplete - de l'oeuvre de Julien d'Eclano, in: REAug 25 (1979), p. 162-170. J importance lies in the fact that he was Pelagianism in his writings refer to the great theologians, the "systematic."
His opponents, among them especially Augustine, attacked because of their "to Manichaeism, which was for years the fact that in his doctrine of original sin, evil concupiscence human, and then seen in his nature, which for years, including a conviction marriage should entail. For him, sin is a matter of human will. The will for years has the freedom to let that happen to sin or to abstain from it (admittendi sins abstine possibility Sin et al.) This freedom of will by which man is only the image of God, is something inalienable and can not be distorted by sin. sin does not alter the natural condition of man (status naturae), but simply the nature of merit before God (Merits Qualitas). If sin is work of the will, the Augustinian doctrine of original sin by J. is a contradiction in itself because, in human nature, not to be rooted in his will. J. Augustin is even worse than the Manichean, but he does with his teaching God the author of evil. But God is the creator of a good nature. If this is the bad man by nature, he is not capable of redemption. Those who have condemned the negative nature of the J. Grace. His first defense of God's righteousness, which contradicts the doctrine of original sin in its opinion. The work of God's grace is not seen in the election and predestination, but the physical and intellectual talent of the people. In continuation of the saving work of God in turn are the gift of the law and the perfect revelation of the will of God in Christ. In baptism, man is given the incentive for the best. With the help of God's will, can do any justice. Everyone, even the pagans can now be achieved through the use of his free will is good. In his account of J. is trying to connect their ideas with Scripture and church tradition, but also stresses the importance of human reason. Augustine himself has confirmed that Pelagianism ricevuto solo attraverso un sistema coerente J. dogmatico.

JULIAN, Bishop of Aeclanum (about 385 - 450) The sources on the life and work of Julian Aeclanum is very complicated. His works are only from the quotations to collect the writings of his opponents, the presentation of his life in Gennadius is partly deformed legendary (for details see below). So also his exact birth date is unknown. It was towards the end of the 4th Born the son of the century southern Italian bishop and his wife Juliana and Memorius of 403 married Titia, a subsidiary of the bishop of Benevento Aemilius. Paulinus of Nola wrote a song for the price of Julian and Titia (Carm. 25). The father provided a thorough training in rhetoric and self-Js Augustine asked to make a contribution to the teaching Js. This then sent him a copy of a portion of his treatise on music and requested a visit to J's encounter with Augustine, however, it is for J. not come, the already consecrated a deacon young man just arrived in Carthage, Augustine's friend Honoratus. Already 416/17 J. was consecrated as Bishop of Aeclanum, southwest of Benevento. Together with a group of 18 Italian and Sicilian bishops he refused to 418, the signatures on the Epistola tractoria of Pope Zosimus, the condemned Pelagianism. The whole group was deposed and exiled. Comes with a request to Valerius in Ravenna, the Holy See and Rufus of Thessalonica, they tried to reach the convening of a general council, they should place it back in their offices. Their efforts were unsuccessful. His confrontation with his former patron Augustin, the J. after his appointment to Valerius (418) made to his treatise "Ad Turbantium" (419) and his writing ad Florum "brought no change for the pealgianische party. J. was with some other consumption at 421 Bishop Theodore of Mopsuestia, who was already known as a critic of opponents of Pelagius. In his biblical exegesis owes J. Theodore and other Antiochenes much that can be seen from the few fragments of his exegetical works. After Theodore sat especially the new one Patriarch Nestorius of Constantinople to Pope Celestine J.. The pope, however, was already convinced by Marius Mercator from error of the Pelagians and even reached their expulsion from Constantinople. The Condemnation of Pelagianism at the Council of Ephesus (431) pushed all further attempts at mediation before a stop and J's efforts in the Popes Sixtus III. Leo and I failed. From the surviving sources (Fulgentius: PL 48.296 ff) can be derived the suggestion though nciht confirm that J. spent some time in the Semi-pelagians in southern Gaul, while visiting Faustus of Reji in Lérins, before he had as a teacher in Sicily 455 died. - J's writings are mainly due to the numerous citations of other authors such as Augustine, Marius Mercator, and the Venerable Bede remained unknown. It is thought that his work in dealing with Augustine as his earliest writings are considered. They include the letter to Valerius, the treatise "Ad" Turbantium a letter to Pope Zosimus, which probably followed by a second, "by Marius Mercator as" Libellus fidei designated, and the writing ad "Florum. Of some importance also likely Js exegetical works have been. They include a Latin translation of Theodore of Mopsuestia "Expositio in psalmos," Comments on Job and the prophets Hosea, Joel, Amos, and of Bede, with few quotations cited documents "In Canticum," and "De bono constantia." To the difficult source material see Yves-Marie Duval, Julian Aeclanensis Restitutus. La première édition - incomplete - de l'oeuvre de Julien d'Éclane, in: REAug 25 (1979), p. 162-170. J's importance lies in the fact that he was of Pelagianism by his writings to the great theologians, the "systematic." His opponents, among them especially Augustine, he attacked because of their "to Manichaeism," which was for years the fact that in his doctrine of original sin, the evil in human concupiscentiae and thus saw in his nature, which for years including a condemnation the marriage had to lead to. For him, sin is a matter of human will. The will has for years the freedom to let it happen to sin or to abstain from it (admittendi peccati et abstinendi a peccato possibilitate). This freedom of the will by which man is only the image of God, remains an inalienable good and can not be distorted by sin. The sin does not alter the natural condition of man (status naturae), but only the nature of his earnings to God (meriti qualitas). If sin is the work of the will, Augustine's doctrine of original sin for J. is a contradiction in terms as they in the nature of man, not to be rooted in his will. J. Augustin is even worse than the Manichean, but he makes with his teaching God as creator of evil. But God is the creator of a good nature. If man that is inherently evil, so he would not be capable of redemption. Those who condemned the nature denies for the Grace J.. He first defended the justice of God, which contradicts the doctrine of original sin in his opinion. The work of the grace of God is not to be seen in the election and predestination, but in the physical and intellectual talent of the people. In continuation of the salvific work of God are one after the administration of the law and the perfect revelation of God's will in Christ. In baptism, man is given the incentive for the better. With the help of God's saving will, he can fulfill all righteousness. Everyone, even the heathen can, so by the use of his free will the Gute erlangen.

SEARCH: ANTI-ALZHEIMER DRUG HELPS PEOPLE IN LEARNING

A drug commonly prescribed to patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease and 'able to boost learning in healthy people. And 'what neuroscientists have found the University' of California at Berkeley (USA) in a study published online
on 'Current Biology'.

E 'was shown that healthy individuals who take donepezil are much more' clever 'in performing a task that was to define the directions of movement of some dots on a screen, compared to the placebo group.

Ne 'the researchers' participants knew who was taking placebo or donepezil, a cholinesterase inhibitor that enhances the effects of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the brain. "We wanted to better understand - highlights Michael Silver, Professor of Optometry and Neuroscience at their university in California - the biological mechanisms underlying the ability 'to learn new tasks, and in so doing to shed light on what specific neural processes are favored by donepezil. This is 'the first study to demonstrate that this drug can' improve learning in healthy people. "

HEART HEALTHY: L' EDUCATION PROTECTS FROM HEART AND STROKE, BUT DOES NOT APPLY TO DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

A high level of education can save the risk of developing cardiovascular disease: a study to support published in Circulation, a journal of the American Heart Association official from the Emory Rollins School of Public Health and the Emory School of Medicine in Atlanta (USA), which provides the link between education and healthy heart is true, however, only for the inhabitants of developed countries, and not for citizens of countries with low and middle income countries.

During the study, which lasted two years, researchers led by Abhinav Goyal examined 61,332 patients, mean age 69 years from 44 countries, all suffering from heart and other risk factors including smoking habit, high blood pressure , ateroclerosi and obesity. 36% of the sample consisted of women and 64% men, and all were investigated years education and socio-economic level achieved. The study found that high rates of schooling protect against cardiovascular disease, especially the residents of countries with high income and highly educated men in particular, which showed lower rates of heart problems.

Educated women in developing countries have instead registered a slight increase in the incidence of heart attack and stroke, due also to the increase of smoking in this category compared to educated women in rich countries, "Do not we think that just because some groups are more educated than others adopt a healthy lifestyle - said Goyal -. All they need to be educated about the risk of heart disease and, in particular, they should be advised to adopt healthy lifestyles and to stop smoking. "

SMOKE: TOBACCO Mom and Dad '. DAMAGE THAT IS THE SPERM CELLS EMBRYO

Aspiring Pope 'would do well to put out cigarettes . As well as pregnant women. Two new studies, in fact, explain how the smoke may 'damage fertility', even that of the unborn child. The research is published online on 'Human Reproduction', and give even more 'basis to advice to quit with the 'Blonde', directed by doctors to aspiring parents.

In the first study, researchers led by Claus Andersen Yding University Hospital of Copenhagen (Denmark) They found that if the mother smokes with the stomach, early pregnancy, it drastically reduces the number of germ cells and somatic cells in the developing fetus. So much so that the researchers believe that this could even have negative effects on fertility 'of the child, once adult.

In the second study, however, the team of the University Mohamed Hammadeh 'of Saarland (Germany) examined specific protein - called protamines - in the semen of a group of heavy smokers (more than 20 cigarettes a day), comparing the results
obtained with those of men who had never lit a cigarette. The protamines play an important role in sperm development and have an effect on fertility ' male. Well, the concentrations of these proteins were below 14% in the sperm of smokers compared to nonsmokers. "This means - write the researchers - who the sperm of smokers suffering from a lack of protamine, probably caused by cigarette smoking. And this could be a cause" of infertility '.

PSYCHOLOGY: DRESSING FOR FALSE FALSE

The "false" makes us false: for clothes, accessories, shoes that do to the great designers, in a few words the many counterfeit products seems to have effects psychological nothing positive about us, lead us to behave in a manner not entirely honest, to be more cynical and shifty-eyed towards others.

E 'as shown in a series of experiments conducted by Francesca Gino Italian researcher working at Harvard Business School in Boston, whose results appeared recently in the journal Psychological Science. How to interpret?
It 'possible that the use of counterfeit products has an effect quite different from the gratifying illusion of wearing the original, and a worm that creeps into us making us feel less autentici.Ciò, in return, could not compel us to conduct all beyond reproach.

The expert has made a series of tests on women who were given spectacles and trendy brand. A part of Women have been told, even if it was not true, that the glasses were of the fake Chloe, that is a counterfeit trademark. After that the entire sample was tested with a series of tests to measure their level of honesty.

the first trial women had to answer math quiz and then autopremiarsi if the answer is correct. Well, 70% of women who wore glasses 'false', unaware of being spied on, cheats rewarding when you do not have the right, but it only does 30% of those who knew how to wear sunglasses authentic.

This result was repeated in other tests, showing that women who wear fake cheat more. But not over, psychological tests in these women were also more cynical and less trusting toward others. The conclusion is clear: counterfeiting hurts not only the economy but also to persons who can not afford the originals, and use them.

JAWS MAKE THE IDENTIFIED GENE SLA ... THE CURE IS CLOSE TO SMOKE CANNABIS

The gene for ALS? It is no longer a secret. With an international multi-center research results from the cooperation Auxologico, University of Milan and the Centro Dino Ferrari, was, in fact, identified the chromosome responsible for the particle sporadic ALS, the form of the disease in more than 90% of cases.

Fruit the collaboration of eight European countries and outside Europe (United Kingdom, United States, Holland, Ireland, Italy, France, Sweden and Belgium) the discovery, published in Lancet Neurology, is a milestone in the 'identification of genes responsible for disease and its subsequent understanding.

"Identification - says Vincent Silanes, director of the Department of Neuroscience dell'Auxologico in Milan and one of the authors of the research - has taken place with the technical Genome-Wide (GWA) to analyze, in a population of patients sporadic ALS, almost a million genetic variants in a region of 'hot' genome located on chromosome 9q21. "

The gene, as well as the Sporadic ALS, is also responsible for ALS associated with frontotemporal dementia family. The study, led by English scholars of King's College London in a series of 599 British patients with sporadic ALS and 4144 healthy controls, was confirmed in a larger series of 4321 patients with ALS and 8425 controls collected in seven different countries including Italy.

"Today's discovery - he concludes Silanes - represents a substantial step towards the definition of the etiological causes of ALS, only through these steps will be required to be established therapy for patients." IRCCS Istituto Auxologico Italian researchers have also completed the collection of DNA of 2000 Italian patients with sporadic ALS after creating a number of other Italian Centers Consortium Slagen with the intention to conduct an independent GWA study Italian.
